Virat Kohli’s strike rate not that great: Virender Sehwag wants RCB skipper to switch gears a lot quicker

Legendary Indian opener Virender Sehwag has questioned Virat Kohli’s batting style for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season 13. The three-time runners-up have made it to the playoffs stage of the elite competition after recording a bitter-sweet campaign in the league phase. Leading from the front, Kohli has been RCB’s go-to-man in the 13th edition of the cash-rich league.

Despite returning to scoring ways for the RCB side, Kohli has failed to cash-in on his starts in the T20 league. Kohli has often struggled in converting his starts into match-defining knocks in the IPL 2020. Highlighting the same following RCB’s qualification to the playoffs stage, former Indian cricketer Sehwag has opined that Kohli needs to switch gears in order to help Bangalore post a respectable total on board.

Known for his explosive batting style, Sehwag had plied his trade in the IPL with the likes of Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Delhi Capitals (DC). The former KXIP opener explained why Kohli-led RCB has struggled post the Powerplays while batting. Speaking to Cricbuzz, Sehwag said that Kohli takes 20 to 25 balls to shift gears and his side gets in trouble following his departure. “Virat Kohli needs to switch gears a lot quicker. He takes around 20-25 balls to change gears and then when he gets out, the team gets into trouble,” Sehwag said.
