‘I try my best’: Neeraj Chopra gives epic reply on being asked about his spoken English

Star Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra recently created history once again when he became the first Indian athlete to win a Diamond League competition. In the final, he hit a best throw of 88.4 m to cap off what was a stunning achievement for him. After winning the Olympic Gold Medal and World Championships silver, Chopra has now added another feather in his cap.
After the event, Neeraj Chopra sat down with journalists when one of them asked him about whether he has improved his spoken English. To this, the star athlete gave quite a straighforward reply.
“I know my English is not perfect but I try my best. It has improved a lot with talking to my coach. I know that athletics is a global sport and I want to reach everyone. I know that I can’t find a translator everywhere so I try my best,” said the star athlete.
Neeraj Chopra also said that he would balance out his off season commitments better this season, as it was new experience for him last year after the glory at Tokyo Olympics.
“Last year was a very new experience for me, balancing was difficult, but I learned from last season. This time for the few commercial commitments I will give dates in advance. When the training time comes, I will be fully focussed on that … So that the preparation is taken care of well,” he added
After winning the gold at the Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj Chopra has been on an incredible run of form. He returned to a action, breaking the national record with an 89.30m throw at the Paavo Nurmi Games in June 2022. He then went on to win the World Championships silver medal, becoming the first Indian to do so. However, he missed the Commonwealth Games 2022 due to a groin strain, but has since returned with full glory.
