When it comes to using the photo sharing app Instagram, perhaps no one uses it in a more unique way than WWE legend John Cena. He posts random pictures on his feed without any caption, thus giving cryptic hints to fans. In fact, he has a habit of posting pictures of other sportspersons on his feed as well.
In his recent post on Instagram, John Cena posted a picture of New Zealand batsman Glenn Philips celebrating a win in a game for the Kiwis. This was the first time that John Cena had posted a non-India cricketer’s picture on his Instagram profile, having earlier posted photos of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli on the photo sharing app.
In fact, Glenn Philips does have a connection with John Cena. In the final match of the recently concluded tri-series between New Zealand and Pakistan, Devon Conway had got out and it was time for Glenn Philips to come out to bat. The DJ played John Cena’s famous entry music as Phillips was coming out to bat, in a moment that went viral on social media. This might be the reason why Cena shared Philips’ picture on Instagram.
Glenn Philips is known for his explosive batting in the T20 format, and will be an important cog in the wheel for the New Zealand team in the T20 World Cup.
The Kiwis come into the tournament with a bit of bad form, as they lost the tri-series against Pakistan and Bangladesh at home, thereafter losing their first warm up game vs South Africa by a comprehensive 9 wickets after being bundled out for just 99. They next face India on October 19 in their second warm up game.
New Zealand begin their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign against trans-Tasmanian rivals Australia on October 22.
