Bengaluru will host the IPL auction for the 2nd year in a row. The mini-auction for IPL 2023 is set to take place in the city on December 16. Bengaluru had hosted the IPL 2022 mega-auction in February earlier this year and in December, the city will once again stage the much-awaited event.
A reliable source told The Times of India about the date and venue for the mini-auction. It will be for the second time that the BCCI will be staging two auctions in a year. In 2018, the mega auction and mini-auction took place in a year.
There will be an increase in the purse of IPL franchises and they can spend up to Rs 95 crore. Since it’s a mini-auction, the franchises aren’t expected to spend the whole amount during the event. The IPL franchises will release the list of retained players by the end of next month.
Will Ravindra Jadeja stay with Chennai Super Kings?
Going into IPL 2023 mini-auction, all eyes are on Ravindra Jadeja and it isn’t known if the star all-rounder will stay with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) or not. Jadeja had hinted at leaving CSK by deleting all the posts related to the franchise from his Instagram page. He also deleted a heartfelt response to the franchise on Twitter.
Neither franchise nor the player has commented on the matter. The fans’ wait will end soon as the franchises will release the list of retained players before the mini-auction. As per Cricbuzz, Delhi Capitals had enquired to CSK about acquiring Jadeja.
The IPL 2023 will be played across different centres in the country and the teams will play half of their matches at their home and the rest of the fixtures away from home. MS Dhoni is confirmed to lead Chennai Super Kings again.
