“Good Bad Girl happened after I gave a hell lot of auditions,” says actress Samridhi Dewan, who is currently being seen in the web show Good Bad Girl. Helmed by Vikas Behl the show’s plot revolves around Samridhi’s Maya Ahuja, a lawyer who excels in telling lies. The show also stars Gul Panag in a pivotal role.
Maya is different in different stages of her life, as most people are, opines Samridhi, adding that in the present day, Maya is someone who is walking on eggshells which could create a whole lot of sound and be problematic for her. That basically forms the crux of the show
Samridhi opens up on working towards the role and how sometimes lying is not about being right or wrong. She also reveals if she has lied in real life as well.
“We did a fair share of workshop for the role. Body, sound, we worked on how to make this person who is written to be a little bit of an anti-hero also relatable and likeable as well,” says Samridhi, adding, “I feel sometimes, lying is something you have to do, I do not think it is wrong or right. Sometimes it is something you have to do since the situation demands it. I feel Maya does a whole lot of lying and nevertheless.”
“White lies exits, and sometimes a lot of people would argue, sometimes, diplomacy involves a lot of lies, and since diplomacy is considered wise as well, that by extension should also include white lies, she says.
Ask her if she has ever lied to land a job or evade trouble, Samridhi says, “I don’t think I have ever lied to land a job, but I have for sure lied when I knew that I would get scolded I have definitely lied about being late, or in theatre school and even in school about small things. Lying is somehow a part of our collective consciousness.
And, is the dark comedy is inspired by the iconic Jim Carrey film Liar Liar? The actress says, “It is not inspired by Jim Carey’s Liar Liar at all. And you will see.”
