Roger Binny likely to replace Sourav Ganguly as BCCI president, Jay Shah to continue as secretary: Sources

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) office-bearers have reached Mumbai to discuss several key points related to BCCI’s next elections and sources have told Times Now that Roger Binny is likely to replace Sourav Ganguly as the BCCI president while Jay Shah will continue as BCCI secretary. Rajeev Shukla could be the next BCCI vice president while Arun Dhamal might take over as the IPL chairman.
While nothing is confirmed as of now, here’s what we know:
BCCI president: Roger Binny
BCCI secretary: Jay Shah
Vice President: Rajeev Shukla
Joint secretary: Likely from Assam
IPL Chairman – Arun Dhumal
Treasurer – Ashish Shelar
Ahead of the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) that is scheduled to take place in Mumbai on October 18, an important meeting of the board will happen in Mumbai on Tuesday. The BCCI top brass had landed in Mumbai on October 10 for the meeting.
Recently, in a big relief for Ganguly as well as Jay Shah, the Supreme Court of India allowed them to continue with their posts by also allowing the Indian board to tweak its constitution. SC also accepted BCCI’s plea to waive the cooling-off period for office bearers who have completed 1 term (3 years) in state association & 1 term (3 years) in BCCI. SC also said that the cooling-off period would come only after 2 consecutive terms in office which means that an office bearer be in office for a term of 6 years in State Association & then for 6 years in BCCI in one go. The cooling-off period would apply for 3 years thereafter.“We are of view that proposed amendment would not dilute the object of cooling off period with the result that cooling off will come to effect once a candidate has completed 2 consecutive terms in BCCI & state association,” the court said in its order.
