Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh  approved the proposal to change the name of Faizabad Cantt to Ayodhya Cantt, news agency ANI said citing sources.

Earlier in 2018, the name of Faizabad district was changed to Ayodhya. After almost four years, permission has now been granted to rename the Faizabad Cantt as Ayodhya Cantonment.

In October 2021, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced that Faizabad railway junction would be renamed as Ayodhya Cantt.

The approval from the Defence Minister has come on the eve of Dussehra, a day that marks the victory of good over evil. The festival is marked to celebrate Lord Ram’s triumph over Ravana.
