In the current generation of batters around the world, Virat Kohli and Babar Azam are among the two finest players in world cricket. The former Indian skipper and the current Pakistan cricket team all-format captain are set to go down in the history books as two legends of their respective countries.
Recently, a Twitter user took social media by storm by posting childhood pictures of Kohli and Babar and pointed out that they are looking similar. Many were also quick to notice that the colour of their shirts in the pictures was also the same. The post has gone viral on social media with cricket fans going gaga over the images and many also referred to them as brothers by making the reference of popular bollywood movie ‘Karan Arjun.’
Both Kohli and Babar are currently busy in preparation for the 2022 T20 World Cup. Kohli-starrer India are currently in action against South Africa before they board the flight to Australia for the mega event. Meanwhile, Babar-led Pakistan are currently engrossed in an intense seven-match home series against England which they are leading 3-2 at the moment. Babar scored his 2nd T20I century during the second match of the series in Karachi.
Mutual respect
Both Kohli and Babar are known to have immense mutual respect for each other. In fact, earlier this year when Kohli was struggling for form during the England series, the Pakistan skipper put out a viral tweet saying ‘”This too shall pass. Stay strong. #ViratKohli.”
Ahead of the 2022 Asia Cup, the Indian batting superstar lavished praise on Babar and called him the best batter in world cricket across the three formats. “The first interaction I had with him was the 2019 World Cup, after the [India-Pakistan] game in Manchester. He and Imad [Wasim] – Imad I have known since U19 cricket, because we played against each other – so Imad said Babar wanted to have a chat.
“We sat down, we spoke about the game. I saw a lot of regard and respect from him from day one, and that hasn’t changed, regardless of the fact that he is probably the top batsman in the world right now across formats, performing so consistently. And rightly so,” said Kohli on Star Sports.
