Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 5G services in the country at India Mobile Congress at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on October 1, 2022.
The Ministry of Communications’ National Broadband Mission on Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 5G services in India on October 1.
“Taking India’s digital transformation & connectivity to new heights, Hon’ble PM, @narendramodi, will roll out 5G services in India; at India Mobile Congress; Asia’s largest technology exhibition,” tweeted National Broadband Mission.
The official website of India Mobile Congress (IMC), a telecom, media and technology forum, on its website, said that PM Modi will inaugurate the event and launch 5G services. The IMC is jointly organised by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), according to its website.
Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw stated earlier that India is gearing up to roll out 5G services by October. He further added that 5G services will be scaled up after the launch.
After 5G spectrum auctions were completed in August, Vaishnaw in urged telecom companies to be prepared for the 5G launch.
“Spectrum assignment letter issued. Requesting TSPs to prepare for 5G launch,” had written on Twitter.
The Department of Telecom (DoT) garnered Rs 17,876 core from Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, Adani Data Networks and Vodafone Idea for the spectrum auctions.
DoT received bids worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore during the 5G spectrum auctions, with Mukesh Ambani’s Jio emerging as the top bidder.
