September 23 is definitely going to be a great day to be a cinema lover, because why not? The day, will be celebrated as National Cinema Day and is truly going to be quite the celebratory affair. An initiative by Multiplex Association of India (MAI), the tickets will be sold at a base price of Rs 75 for everyone and audiences can watch the likes of Brahmastra, Chup, Vendhu Thanindathu Kaadu, among others, on the big screens for just Rs 75 on September 23.
Among other movies that one can watch at that price include the likes of Everything Everywhere All At Once, Dhokha: Round D Corner, Sita Ramam, Fakt Mahilao Maate, and a few more.
And well, it looks like it has been quite the hit already with cinemas recording sold out shows for this Friday (September 23).
As has been stated in a notice issued by Multiplex Association of India, the response to the pre sales has been unprecedented and 23 September is on course to become the highest attended day of the year for cinemas across the country.
Meanwhile, it must be noted that due to State Regulations w.r.t Cinemas and Ticket Pricing, in some of the States i.e. Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, Cinemas would be unable to participate in the National Cinema Day celebrations. Participating cinemas win all States (including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala) will be making special offers on the National Cinema Day.Orifinally, National Cinema Day was to be celebrated on September 16, however, it was later pushed. Reports had it that the same was done to keep up with the box office numbers for Brahmastra, and well, it seemed to have worked out decently.
With the advance bookings showing record numbers, September 23 seems like a success already.
