The All India Imam Organisation chief Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, termed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat a ‘rashtra pita‘ and added that Bhagwat had visited Madarsa Tajweedul Quran in north Delhi at his invitation. “We all believe that the nation comes first,” Ilyasi said, news agency PTI quoted.
In a bid to continue his outreach towards the Muslim community in the country, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and other senior functionaries of the RSS met Umar Ahmed Ilyasi, the chief of All India Imam Organisation at a mosque in New Delhi. The meeting was held at Kasturba Gandhi Marg and lasted for more than an hour.
“Mohan Bhagwat ji visited on my invitation today. He’s ‘rashtra-pita‘ & ‘rashtra-rishi’, a good message will go out from his visit. Our ways of worshipping god are different but biggest religion is humanity. We believe country comes first,” Ilyasi said.
Mohan Bhagwat has been holding discussions with Muslim intellectuals and scholars
Suhaib Ilyasi, the brother of Ahmed Ilyasi said that it was ‘great that Mohan Bhagwatji came on a invitation on the death anniversary of our father as it also sends out a good message to the country’. It may be noted that Mohan Bhagwat has been holding discussions with Muslim intellectuals and scholars from across the country in a bid to strengthen communal harmony.
Recently, he had also met Najeeb Jung, former lieutenant governor of Delhi along with former chief election commissioner SY Qureshi, former chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University Lieutenant General Zameeruddin Shah, former MP Shahid Siddiqui and businessman Saeed Shervani.
According to a report by news agency PTI Bhagwat raised the concerns over the use of the word ‘kafir‘ for Hindus. He stressed that the use does not send a good message. The Muslim side, on the other hand raised objections over the usage of word ‘jihadi’ and ‘Pakistani’ for people from the community.
