Is Salman Khan taking pay cut for Bigg Boss 16 due to failure of Bigg Boss OTT?

Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss 16 has already become the talk of the town. The promo for the next season of the reality show is out and it has only created excitement among fans. As the premiere date inches closer, the speculations over which celebrity will be competing for the trophy are doing the rounds. Apart from this, rumours are rife that Salman Khan will be taking Rs 1000 crore for hosting the new season of the reality show.
Earlier, reports stated that Salman Khan charged Rs 350 crore for hosting 14 weeks of Bigg Boss 15. Amid all the excitement, it was also reported that Salman will be having a heavy fee hike for Bigg Boss 16. However, a recent report suggests that the case may be totally opposite. Yes, you read it right.
According to the Mid-Day report, the makers failed to meet expected revenue targets from last year’s Bigg Boss OTT which lead to reduced numbers of sponsors for the upcoming season. This has also led to the cancellation of Bigg Boss OTT which was hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar last year and seems to have also affected fees of Salman for the new season.
If reports are to be believed, Salman is said to have agreed to a pay cut this year for Bigg Boss 16, which means that the superstar will be paid less than what he earned last year. Hence, the reports of Salman charging Rs 100 crore for the show is false.
The Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan actor is hosting Bigg Boss since 2016. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the actor volunteered to take the pay cut for the reality show in the year 2020. In a press conference, he said that he would be happy to cut down his fees if it meant everyone else working on the show gets paid.
For the unversed, Bigg Boss 16 is scheduled to air from October 1. The names such ad Shivin Narang, Munawar Faruqui, Kanika Mann, and Faisal Sheikh, among others are confirmed to enter the controversial house.
