The legends of the world cricket will be back in action as the Road Safety World Series arrives into its second season. Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Shane Watson, Brian Lara, Ross Taylor, Jonty Rhodes, Ian Bell among others will be taking part in the 2022 edition of the competition which sees New Zealand enter it for the first time.
The defending champions India Legends will open their campaign against Rhodes-led South Africa Legends in Kanpur on Saturday, September 10. India Legends beat Sri Lankan counterparts in the inaugural edition’s final, which spanned a year between two split legs.
Master Blaster and the captain of the Indian Legends side Tendulkar has been sweating hard in the nets for the last couple of weeks. Ahead of the game, the fan club of the legendary batter shared a video where Tendulkar showed up for practice at 4 pm and some vintage shots were on display. Tendulkar brought out his signature on drive along with his backfoot movement as the fans can’t wait to the see the 49-year-old in action once again.
Tendulkar was the third-highest leading run-scorer behind Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga last year with 233 runs to his name in 7 innings and would hope to continue that touch.
Alongside Tendulkar, the India Legends boasts of an outstanding league of former Indian players including the recently retured Suresh Raina, Yuvraj, Harbhajan Singh, the Pathan brothers – Irfan and Yusuf, Munaf Patel among others.
The tournament will be played in caravan form where the matches are played for a week at one venue, before shifting to another for the second week. Kanpur, Indore, Dehradun and Raipur are set to host the matches.
