‘More people came to my support than any Congress meetings’: Ghulam Nabi Azad after all-party meet in Jammu

Former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad  convened an all-party meeting in Jammu and claimed that delegations from 30-35 Assembly constituencies extended their support to him.
He also added that the regional leaders have given him assurance they will join whatever party he forms. The all-party meet was attended by many senior leaders from Jammu and Kashmir including former chief ministers Mehboob Mufti and Abdullah Farooq.
While speaking to media, Azad said, “I met around 400 people from delegations of 30-35 Assembly constituencies in Jammu. They gave their support; will be a part of whatever party I make.”
“I can safely say that 4 times more people have come to my support than to the meetings I held in Congress,” added the former Congress leader.
It should be noted that Ghulam Nabi Azad is looking to float his own party after severing decades old ties with the Congress. He intends to contest the next Assembly elections in J&K.
He maintains that he will fight to restore the statehood of Jammu & Kashmir and the rights of its people.
Earlier this week, Azad attacked Congress’ Rahul and Sonia Gandhi saying he had maintained a “dignified silence” since his departure from the party but their continued attack forced him to retaliate.
“They tried to defame me by firing missiles at me but when I retaliated, they got grounded with a single shot of 303 rifle. If I had used a ballistic missile, then they would have vanished from the politics forever,” he said.
