Amitabh Bachchan reveals who is the head of the Bachchan house: ‘Kisi bhi parivaar ke jo mukhya…’

Actor Amitabh Bachchan released the trailer of his upcoming film Goodbye, along with co-stars Rashmika Mandanna, Neena Gupta, Pavail Gulati, and Sunil Grover at a multiplex in Mumbai on Tuesday (September 6). Big B joined the event through a video call and explained that the doctors have put restrictions on his public appearances after he was diagnosed with Covid-19.
Responding to how he keeps the family together as the head of the family, the actor said that the head of the family are the women of the house that keeps it all together.
He said, “Jab aap mukhya shabd ka istemaal karte hain toh aisa lagta hain kisi gao ke mukhya ho gaye hai hum. Gao ke mukhya nahi hai. Kisi bhi parivaar ke jo mukhya hote hain woh ghar ki mahila hoti hai. woh maa hoti hai, woh patni hoti hai, woh behen hoti hai. Hum toh kewal kaam karte hai par woh ghar sambhalti hai, woh parivaar sambhalti hai. Woh ek khubsurat ghosla banati hai jis mein hum log roz shaam ko aake baith sake, mil sake aur aage badh sake. Pratidin jo bhi faisla hota hai, unki aagya ke bina nahi ho sakta.” (When you use a word like ‘mukhya’ it feels like you are referring to a village ‘mukhya’. But I am not the head of the family, it is the women of the family that keeps it all together).
His statement also left the crowd to cheer for him and gave him applause for his remarks.
“When I get a little confused – which direction to take, where to go – you always think if my father and mother would have been alive, what they do in such a situation and suddenly you get all the answers. And that is what I feel is the role of a mother, of a wife. In this film, it is the lady, the mukhya band not me, he added.
He further opened up about losing his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan. He recalled the day when he was sitting in his father’s bedroom after performing his last rites.
“Manier times there are tragedies that happen in a family and I don’t mind sharing a personal incident. When I lost my father after the last rites were over. I was sitting in my father’s bedroom and I was sad. My friend was also there with me and he asked me ‘why are you so sad?’ and I said that I have just performed the last rites so I am sad. Then my friend said that ‘why are you saying, be happy that you spent 60 years with your father, I only got 25 years with my father'”, he said.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Big will also be seen in Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra, which is set to release on September 9. Goodbye is set to release on October 7. He also has the Hindi remake of The Intern with Deepika Padukone.
