Let’s keep cricket free from personal attacks: Sachin Tendulkar offers strong support to Arshdeep Singh

After India’s nail-biting defeat to Pakistan on Sunday (September 4) in the Super 4 stage of the ongoing 2022 Asia Cup at the Dubai International Stadium, Arshdeep Signh has become a major talking point within the cricket fraternity.
With the game heading for a close finish, Arshdeep dropped Pakistan’s power-hitting batter Asif Ali’s catch in the 18th over of the innings when he was batting at 0 from Ravi Bishnoi’s bowling. The missed opportunity proved costly for Team India as Ali went on to score a knock of 16 in just 8 balls to put the Men in Green on the brink of the victory.
Arshdeeep’s dropped catch ended up becoming a major talking point and many called it the reason for India’s defeat. This led to the young pacer receiving some vicious trolling and abuse on social media. The cricket fraternity has backed Arshdeep amid the backlash with senior batter Virat Kohli leading the way.
Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has become the latest to offer his support to Arshdeep. Taking to Twitter, Tendulkar stated that the sport must be kept away from personal attacks and every player representing the nation always gives their best. He urged Arshdeep to keep working and claimed that he is keenly following his progress.
“Every athlete representing the country gives their best and plays for the nation always. They need our constant support & remember, that in sports you win some & you lose some. Let’s keep cricket or any other sport free from personal attacks. @arshdeepsinghh keep working hard…. and give the best reply by performing on the field. I am keenly following you. My best wishes,” Tendulkar wrote on the micro-blogging site.
Arshdeep was one of India’s better bowlers in defeat having conceded just 27 runs in 3.5 overs and also took one wicket. India will be back in action on Tuesday (September 6) against Sri Lanka in a must-win clash.
