Huma Qureshi feels debate around pan Indian films is useless, says, ‘Want to be part of films and tell…’

Maharani 2 went on air on SonyLIV a couple of days ago and it opened up to a massive response once again. With Huma Qureshi and Sohum Shah in the leading roles, their performances have been the center of all the praises and how. With the rang of films that Huma has ahead, one might wonder whether there’s still something that she is waiting to come her way.
Ask Huma the same, and she says, “I don’t know, I am not waiting for anything, I’m just exploring, waiting would be a wrong term. I am just unafraid of taking risks, of taking challenging roles, because I feel like I am at a stage where I am more sure of myself, I am more at ease with who I am as a performer, I’m unaffected towards external chatter, I am looking at leaning towards the things that I enjoy doing.”
And we say, you go girl!
There’s so much to do on the web, in films, and across various platforms. Ask her if she looks at it as a great time to be an actor, and she says, “A 100 %. I think its a great time to be an actor, you can explore so much and not just for OTT, the whole year, I’ve been a part of pan India films, I have been a part of series, so I feel the world is your Oyster. There are many new avenues, genres, platforms where you can connect with your audience.”
We cannot talk pan India films and not mention the debate, can we? Ask her what does she feel about the same and she says, “I think it is a useless debate. As artists, we are just wanting to be part of films and tell entertaining stories, and reach out to more people and I don’t believe in this debate.”
Would it be right to say that Huma Qureshi is currently getting the kind of roles that an actor wishes to, in their career, and while she does credit Maharani, she also added, “Let’s just say I am having fun, I am not just dripping myself, I am also at a very fortunate place where a lot of filmmakers are showing a lot of confidence and faith in me and I feel very very humbled and grateful for having this variety of roles to choose from.”
She concluded, “So I am, I think, in the best phase in my head where I am trying to be true to the script, to the characters, and I feel post Laila, Maharani, a lot of makers have the confidence in my ability to carry a show, carry a film on my shoulders. It’s a fun phase to be in.”
