Ahead of the marquee Asia Cup clash between the two sides at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (August 28), the Indian and Pakistan national team captain Rohit Sharma and Babar Azam caught up for a candid chat during the training session of the two sides in Dubai.
The build-up to the two sides’ highly anticipated clash has been full of heartfelt interactions between players and fans of both sides. Earlier in the week, a video of Indian talisman batter Virat Kohli and Babar meeting and greeting each other had gone viral on social media. Later, Pakistan’s ace pacer Shaheen Afridi was documented having lengthy chats with multiple Indian players.
On Friday (August 27) after the two sides finished training, Rohit and Babar caught for an interaction which was published by the official Pakistan Cricket Board’s social media account. In a hilarious conversation, Rohit can be heard telling the Pakistan captain that he should get married. Rohit said, “‘bhai, shaadi kar lo’ (Brother, get married) to which Babar replied ‘nhi, abhi nhi’ (No, Not Now”).
Sunday’ clash between the two sides will be the first between the two teams since the 2021 T20 World Cup. In the global T20 event last year, the Babar-led outfit demolished India by 10 wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium to register a historic victory which was their first over the Men in Blue in either a T20 or 50-over World Cup match.
This game will be the first time India will face Pakistan since Rohit Sharma’s appointment as captain. Rohit was appointed as the T20I skipper after Virat Kohli’s resignation following the end of the T20 World Cup in 2021. Later, he was also given the charge of both the ODI and Test team too. India will be looking to defend their title having both the 2016 and 2018 edition.
