MS Dhoni believed….: CSK insider reveals why Ravindra Jadeja was relieved of captaincy during IPL 2022

Ravindra Jadeja has time and again fueled the rumours of leaving Chennai Super Kings (CSK) before the next year’s edition. A couple of months ago, he deleted all the CSK-related posts from his Instagram page. And a few weeks back, he deleted a heartfelt reply to CSK, where he claimed that he would spend 10 more years with the Yellow Army.
The change in captaincy during IPL 2022 has reportedly led to the two parties not being in touch since then. Jadeja was named CSK’s captain before the start of IPL 2022 but he was replaced by MS Dhoni after the Yellow Army managed 2 wins from 8 matches.
Jadeja only played 2 matches under Dhoni before being ruled out of the season due to a bruised rib. With Dhoni confirmed to play IPL 2023, he will continue to lead the team.
As per a report in The Times of India, Jadeja and CSK haven’t been in touch since IPL 2022 and there could be a case that the cricketer might leave the franchise. And the reason behind the strained relationship is the captaincy change in the middle of the season.
The same report suggests that there was a reason why Jadeja was relieved of captaincy. Speaking to TOI, a CSK insider said that Dhoni feared for Jadeja’s place in the T20I side owing to his below-par performance in the season. This led to the veteran captain returning as the leader of the side.
Jadeja’s performance did drop during the season and the captaincy had an impact on his fielding as he dropped a couple of catches too. Jadeja is among the greatest fielders in the history of the sport.
There is still no official word regarding Jadeja’s future with CSK and the fans will have to wait for the franchise’s announcement. Jadeja can either enter the auction or get traded to another franchise.
