Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor starrer Laal Singh Chaddha may have a gripping storyline and a stellar cast, but it is not helping the film to set the cash registers ringing. The film continues to struggle at the box office, and even on its fourth day of release – Sunday it has seen minimum growth.
Expectations were high from the film, which is a Hindi adaptation of Forrest Gump. However, the commercial ship of the film has sunk and how. Let’s take a look at how the weekend box office numbers for the film have been
On Sunday, it earned around Rs 10 crore at the Indian box office, a mere 15% rise from its Saturday earnings. The marginal improvement of the film has not been tremendous enough to vouch that it will do better in the coming weeks.
As per the reports, Laal Singh Chaddha has earned in the range of Rs 9.5 crore -10.5 crore in the domestic circuit on Sunday.
This figure takes its four-day week earning to an approx of Rs 37-38 crore. If this has to be compared to Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, then Kartik Aaryan starrer being a comparatively smaller film did far better in its opening weekend and managed to stand still for many weeks to come.
“Going by the current trends, #LaalSinghChaddha and #RakshaBandhan won’t be able to surpass the opening weekend biz of #BhoolBhulaiyaa2 [ ₹ 55.96 cr; non-holiday; 3-day weekend], despite enjoying 5-day extended wknd, with 3 major holidays,” Taran Adarsh wrote in his tweet on Monday morning.
Despite the festive season and Independence day weekend, the film failed to mint numbers. However, it will be the test of time to see how the film will work on Independence Day (Monday) and Janmashtami, which falls on August 18.
