There is no denying that Indian batter and Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson enjoys a massive fan following. During India’s tour of the United Kingdom (UK), Samson’s name received the loudest cheer when the star batter’s inclusion for the 2nd T20I against Ireland was confirmed by stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya following the coin toss. Expressing their love and affection for the star batter on Sunday, the Florida crowd went ballistic for Samson after the conclusion of the 5th T20I.
India recorded a comfortable win over the West Indies to cap off a fruitful tour of the Caribbean in the build-up to the Asia Cup 2022. Celebrating India’s series win, captain Rohit Sharma made a grand entry at the presentation ceremony by driving a mini truck. Continuing the celebrations at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Rohit and Co. made a small pit stop near the boundary line when fans started chanting ‘Sanju-Sanju’.
Acknowledging the loud cheers of the fans, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju also expressed gratitude with a noteworthy gesture. The heartwarming interaction between Samson and his fans soon became the talk of the town on social media. One-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Rajasthan Royals also shared the viral video on Twitter. “The crowd loves Sanju… and he loves them back!,” the 2008 IPL winners captioned their post on the microblogging site.
Samson scored 15 off 11 balls in the fifth and final T20I between India and the West Indies on Sunday. The wicketkeeper-batter was not named in India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2022. Riding on Shreyas Iyer’s 64 off 40 balls, Rohit-less Team India defeated the Nicholas Pooran-led West Indies by 88 runs. Star all-rounder Axar Patel picked up the Man of the Match award while pacer Arshdeep Singh was named the Player of the Series.
