Dulquer Salmaan’s Sita Ramam is winning hearts. The film has finally released and is getting good reviews from the audience. The story is set against the backdrop of a war. It is romantic movie which also stars Mrunal Thakur and Rashmika Mandanna in key roles.
Since a long time, we have been hearing the South Vs Bollywood debate. A lot of Bollywood and South celebrities have been talking about it and giving their opinions. Many feel that this debate is not right as both industries are one.
Now, before the release of his film, Sita Ramam, in an interview with News18, Dulquer Salmaan spoke about the South cinemas doing well in theatres while Bollywood movies have failed to impress the audience.
He said, “Definitely, they are getting their national dues. That’s something we always desired for, we always wished to happen. Not for anything else, just for recognition. It’s important because we also have a wide gamut of types of movies. (We wished for) this to be seen, respected, and heard, big makers and actors to be recognised. That’s a big compliment. That’s something wonderful which is happening.”
He said that Bollywood movies not working is just a phase. He said that not just the Hindi cinema but every industry is facing some amount of trouble in bringing audiences back to the cinema. He said that he travels across industries, and sees the same discussions happening everywhere.
He said, “Definitely, the big event films are attracting massively but then there are so many films releasing every other Friday which we don’t hear about. That issue is there. I know it’s there in Malayalam. I am aware that it’s there in Telugu also. It’s been quite a few bad weeks actually.”
On the work front, Dulquer will also be seen in his upcoming Hindi project Chup: Revenge of the Artist. The film also stars Sunny Deol, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Pooja Bhatt, and others in pivotal roles.
