With each passing day, Alia Bhatt is breaking stereotypes by fulfilling her work commitments while expecting her first baby with hubby Ranbir Kapoor. After wrapping up the shooting of her maiden Hollywood flick Heart Of Stone, the mom-to-be jumped straight into the promotions of her first outing as a producer, Darlings.
During a recent promotional event for her upcoming Netflix film, Alia was asked about how she is managing work with pregnancy. To this, the Gangubai Kathiawadi actress replied that she does not need to rest since she is fit enough and loves what she does.
Alia said, “Agar aap fit ho, healthy ho, fine ho toh koi rest lene ki zarurat hai hi nahi. Kaam karna mujhe sukoon deta hai, meri passion hai. It keeps my heart, my soul, everything alive and charged. Toh main toh matlab 100 saal ki umar tak kaam karungi. (If you are fit, healthy and fine, then is there no need for rest. Working brings me peace, it is my passion. It keeps my heart, my soul, everything alive and charged. So I am going to be working till I am 100 years old!).”
In another interview, Alia opened up about facing casual sexism in the entertainment industry and how she has become more sensitive to it now.
She told Mojo Story, “When I think back now because I am so much more aware of it, it just makes so much sense as ‘oh my god that was such a sexist comment, or that I was basically a subject of extreme misogyny in that moment’. That’s why now I am so much more sensitive.”
Meanwhile, speaking of Darlings, the Jasmeet K Reen directorial also features Shefali Shah and Vijay Varma in pivotal roles. Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment has co-produced the film along with Alia’s Eternal Sunshine Productions.
Darlings will premiere on Netflix on August 5.
