Mission 2022: Ghazal singer Manhar Udhas joins BJP in Gujarat

Ghazal and playback singer Manhar Udhas  joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). At the party’s Gandhinagar office, Udhas (79) was inducted into the party by state BJP chief CR Paatil.
Udhas said that he is a fan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will do his best to serve the people.
“I am happy that I am joining Narendra Modi’s party. I have been a fan of Modi ji. My only purpose in joining the BJP is to contribute to the work being carried out by the party and Modi ji. As I am an artist, I will also write and sing songs for the party,” he told reporters.
The Gujarat Assembly Elections are expected to take place in December.
In the last week of May, BJP began its primary membership drive.
CR Paatil has given the party workers a target of reaching out to 50 lakh households, ie almost 1.50 crore voters, before polls.
News agency IANS reported in July that BJP workers and leaders in Gujarat are receiving positive feedback and very few complaints against the state government and party during the membership drive.
“BJP workers are visiting citizens door-to-door to request they join the party and getting warm responses from them. If there are any complaints, it is segregated at the local level. If the issues are related to local panchayat, municipality or municipal corporation level, a local representative is assigned to address the issue and solve it. If it is at the state government level, then the local MLA is assigned to look into it,” said Gujarat BJP vice president Gordhan Zadafia.
