WB SSC scam: Money recovered by ED belongs to entire TMC govt, not just Partha Chatterjee, alleges BJP

BJP leader Agnimitra Paul along with other party leaders today joined the protest being held by teaching applicants against the state government at the Matangini Hazra statue. As the Enforcement Directorate (ED) continues to probe the WB SSC scam, BJP leaders have alleged CM Mamata Banerjee to be the main accused behind the same. “Even those with their names appearing in list have not been given jobs. This govt is corrupt. We are sure the money recovered from Partha Chatterjee is not just his but whole government’s. CM Banerjee will have to accept this,” BJP leader Agnimitra Paul said at the protest site.
Notably, former minister Partha Mukerjee, who is at the centre of the multi-crore teaching recruitment scam, was arrested by the ED after a raid by the central agency recovered Rs 50 crore cash from two homes belonging to his close aide Arpita Mukerjee earlier this week.
Notably, a day after the ED seized Rs 50 crore in cash, Parth Chatterjee claimed that the money doesn’t belong to him. When asked who is behind the teacher recruitment scam, the former minister said, “When the time comes, you will know… the money does not belong to me.
On the other hand, BJP leaders continued allegations against WB CM Mamata Banerjee over the matter. “Mamata Banerjee is the main culprit. Partha Chatterjee used to be with the CM for almost eight to 10 hours. The SSC scam happened only with the blessings of Mamata, and she is associated with Partha Chatterjee. Mamata Banerjee is now trying to save herself and her nephew. (She) will do a lot of gimmicks and we will have to see,” BJP West Bengal vice president Saumitra Khan told news agency ANI yesterday.
