After the conclusion of the West Indies tour, India are also scheduled to face Zimbabwe in its away tour to the African nation. Since Rohit & Co. are set to feature in the Asia Cup before the ICC World T20 2022, the Board of Control for India (BCCI) named a second-string side for the One Day International (ODI) series against Zimbabwe.
The Indian think tank is also expected to furnish the final squad for the Asia Cup 2022 next week. August 8 is reportedly the deadline for all Asian teams to submit the final squad for the showpiece event. As per the latest developments, the BCCI will not only announce the Asia Cup squad next week but the shortlisted players will also be representing the Rohit-led side at the T20 World Cup.
a report filed by Cricbuzz, the squad picked for the Asia Cup will almost be the same that is set to travel for the ICC World T20. Defending champions Australia will host the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup this year in October-November. The report suggested that the same set of players will be named in the T20I series against Australia and South Africa in September and October.
Superstars and seasoned campaigners Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul are also expected to make the cut for the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup. Players who are plying their trade in the West Indies T20Is have four more games to strengthen their case for the Asia Cup followed by the T20 World Cup.
