The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its list of candidates for Legislative Council by-elections 2022 in Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka. While Shri Dharmendra Singh Senthwar and Smt Nirmala Paswan would contest from Uttar Pradesh, the party has fielded Shri Baburao Chinchanasuru from Karnataka

Notably, the BJP registered a ‘clean-sweep’ victory in the Uttar Pradesh legislative council elections held on 36 seats earlier this year in April. BJP won 33 out of 36 seats. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wrote a congratulatory message on Twitter to thr the newly-elected members. “Hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the newly elected members of the Upper House of Uttar Pradesh,” the tweet read.
