Priyanka Vadra comes in ‘national asset’ Lovlina Borgohain’s support after she alleges ‘mental harassment’

Politician Priyanka Gandhi Vadra  took to Twitter to come in support of star Indian boxer and Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain, after she revealed that she’s going through mental harrassment. The 24-year-old took to social media earlier in the day to reveal the issue and blamed the constant changes in her coaching staff for the same. This has hampered her preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2022.
Lovlina is a two-time World Championship bronze medallist and rose to fame after she won the historic bronze medal in Tokyo last year. She is one of India’s brightest medal prospects in the upcoming Commonwealth Games that will start in Birmingham this week. But in a surprise revelation on Monday, she spoke about the problems she is facing these days.
After she came out in the open about the ongoing issue, she has received support from all corners and politican Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also took a note of the same and tweeted in support of the 24-year-old Assamese boxer.
The politician wrote, “@LovlinaBorgohai is an asset to our nation, she should be encouraged and supported in every way. I hope the government will look into her complaint and do everything possible to stop the harassment she is facing..”
Lovlina who competes in the women’s welterweight category, earlier shared a statement in which she wrote, “It’s with extreme pain that I have to say that I am going through a lot of harassment. Time and again, my coach, who helped me win an Olympic medal, is removed which hampers my training process and leads to harassment. One of the coaches is also Sandhya Gurung Ji – who is a Dronacharya awardee. Both my coaches are included in the training camp only after we plead and fold hands a thousands times.”
Borgohain went on to add that she has been undergoing mental harassment due to the ongoing politics which has made it difficult for her to focus on her training at the Commonwealth Games.
“As a result of this, I have to face many obstacles in my training and I undergo mental harassment. My coach Sandhya Gurung is currently outside the Commonwealth Games village as a result of which my training stopped eight days ahead of the event. My second coach has been sent back to India. This has happened despite my requests which has led to mental harassment for me. I don’t know how to focus at Commonwealth Games. My performance at last World Championships was also affected because of the same reason. I don’t want to spoil my peformance at CWG 2022 due to this politics. I hope I would be able to rise above this politics and win a medal for my country,” she added.
