Smriti Irani hits back at Congress for alleging her daughter runs bar in Goa: ‘I will seek answers in court’

Union Minister Smriti Irani  hit back at Congress, which alleged that an “illegal bar” was being run in Goa by her daughter Zoish, saying she will now seek answers in court.
Addressing a press conference, Irani said that these charges are “baseless” and that her 18-year-old daughter, who is a first-year college student, is not running any bar.
Talking to reporters, Irani said that Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera shared a copy of the show cause notice given to the bar but it did not have her daughter’s name in it.
“Her character was publicly mutilated by the Congress party and they claim that the mutilation stemmed from a show cause notice. I want to ask that Congressperson, where is my daughter’s name in the papers that he flashed?” she asked.
Now, Congress leaders will get a show cause notice today, she said. “I will seek answers in court of law, court of people,” she told reporters.
She further said that the grand old party “assassinated” her daughter’s character because her mother fought Lok Sabha elections against Rahul Gandhi.
“An 18-year-old child, a college student, her character today was assassinated by Congressmen at party headquarters. Her fault is that her mother fought the Lok Sabha election against Rahul Gandhi from Amethi in 2014 and 2019,” she said.
Irani dared the Wayanad MP to fight from Amethi Lok Sabha seat again in 2024 and promised that he will lose again. “I dare Rahul Gandhi to fight from Amethi Lok Sabha seat again in 2024, and I promise he will lose again,” she added.
Earlier in the day, Khera demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should sack Smriti Irani, alleging that an “illegal bar” was being run in Goa by her daughter. Talking to reporters, he said that there are serious charges of corruption against Irani’s family and her daughter is allegedly running a restaurant in Goa, in which a bar is functioning on a “fake licence”.
However, the lawyer of Irani’s daughter, Kirat Nagra, said his client is neither an owner nor operating the restaurant called Silly Souls Goa, and has also not received any show cause notice from any authority whatsoever as alleged.
