The winners of the 68th National Film Awards have been announced today. The ceremony took place in Delhi on Friday afternoon. Winning the best actor for his film Soorarai Pottru was superstar Suriya. And congratulating him for the win, was Akshay Kumar, who will be seen in the Hindi remake of the movie. The movie has managed to win big at the awards today and congratulatory posts have been pouring in and how.
Akshay wrote: Over the moon to see #SooraraiPottru win the top honours at the National Awards. Heartfelt congratulations my brother @Suriya_offl, #AparrnaBalamurali and my director #SudhaKongara. Humbled to be working in the Hindi adaptation of such an iconic film.
Along with Suriya, Ajay Devgn has also won the best actor award for his film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. The movie has also won the best costume designer award and has been in the news for the same.
Ajay has also spoken about winning his third National film award and said, “I’m elated to win the Best Actor Award for Tanhaji—The Unsung Warrior at the 68th National Awards along with Suriya who won for Soorarai Pottru. I thank everyone, most of all my creative team, the audience and my fans. I also express my gratitude to my parents & the Almighty for their blessings. Congratulations to all the other winners.”
As for Akshay, he is currently gearing up for his August 11 release, Raksha Bandhan.
Meanwhile, Soorarai Pottru has also won the Best Feature Film title and Suriya had recently welcomed Akshay on board for the Hindi remake of the movie, also marking the former’s first as a producer. Sudha Kongara will be directing the Hindi remake of the movie.
