Former Nepal prime minister and chairman of Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will meet Bharatiya Janata Party president JP Nadda. The meeting is part of the party’s ‘Know BJP’ initiative that was launched on its foundation day on April 6.
He has already met Minister for External Affairs S Jaishankar and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, among others.
On Friday, Prachanda began a three-day visit to India. The Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Centre chairman on Saturday sought a review of the 1950 treaty between Nepal and India.
At an event organised by the Foundation for Public Awareness and Policy, Prachanda said that there should be no delay in reviewing the treaty.
“There are some issues left by history that need to be addressed in good faith to fully realise the potential of Nepal-India relations and bilateral cooperation. The matters related to the 1950s Treaty, boundary, and the EPG report need to be resolved through diplomatic efforts and dialogue. In the spirit of good neighbourliness, we can make our relations problem-free,” he said.
The former Nepal PM will reportedly be given a tour of the BJP headquarters tomorrow.
As part of the ‘Know BJP’ outreach program, the BJP chief has been interacting with foreign dignitaries for some time now.
Nadda has so far spoken with Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Singapore Minister for Foreign Relations Vivian Balakrishnan, and envoys of 47 countries as part of this program.
A new initiative ‘Know BJP’ was launched by Nadda on the occasion of the party’s foundation day.
As part of this initiative, Nadda elaborates on the history, struggles, successes, ideology, and contributions of the BJP and its governments in national development during his interaction with foreign dignitaries.
Additionally, he addresses the distinguished guests’ questions.
