Robert Lewandowski poker game over? Barcelona to make ‘final offer’ for Bayern Munich striker: Report

A great game of poker has been witnessed over the transfer of Robert Lewandowski this summer. While the player himself made his intentions of leaving Bayern Munich for Barcelona public on a number of occasions, the German giants have maintained that they wish to keep him for another year.
Despite their being only one year left in Lewandowski’s contract, Bayern Munich are said to be keen on getting over 50 million euros for the player from Barcelona. A few bids from the Spanish club under that value have already been ignored by Bayern. As per Sky Sports journalist, Florian Plattenberg, Barcelona are set to make their final offer for the Pole. The new offer is expected to be in the range of EUR 50-55 million.
“A final offer from Barcelona is expected in the next hours – of around €50m + bonus. Bayern is willing to sell him for €50-55m. His transfer to Barcelona is more and more likely this week,” he tweeted.
Bayern Munich have already signed Sadio Mane for Liverpool, Mane isn’t a classical No. 9 like Lewandowski but he did play for Liverpool in that position last season. Bayern bosses, however, have also maintained that they want a like-for-like replacement for Lewandowski. Only in this condition would they allow him to leave.
As things stand at the moment, Bayern could be getting their desired fee for Lewandowski, they still haven’t signed a classical No. 9. Among the new recruits that have been signed by the club, includes the likes of midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, right-back Noussair Mazraoui and winger Sadio Mane.
Bayern have also been linked strongly with Juventus center-back Matthijs de Ligt. Negotiations with the Italian club over the Dutch defender’s transfer are reportedly already underway. Bayern, however, might have to break their transfer record to sign the highly-rated defender from the Turin-based club.
