Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav asked if the rising population was such a big threat then why was a country like China doing so well. He also warned the Central government to seriously look into the issues of inflation, unemployment, and illiteracy.
Taking a veiled dig at some BJP leaders, who have been pushing for a population control law, Tejashwi Yadav asked, “Despite being the most populous country, China is ahead of India in terms of the economy, the GDP, and development. Shouldn’t it spark a debate? If the rising population is a threat, then why is China doing so well?”
Taking a dig at the Central government, the RJD leader said that people who play politics in the name of religion should be alert now as inflation, illiteracy, and unemployment would be hard to control if the government does not stay focussed.
“The govt must focus on such real issues,” he stressed.
Yadav went on to suggest that anarchy stems from unemployment as it was recently witnessed with the Agnipath scheme. “The fear of unemployment caused anger among the youth. You all saw how that anger turned into anarchy,” he added.
Earlier today, six Opposition MPs met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and submitted a memorandum against the Agnipath recruitment scheme. In the letter, the leaders demanded the Central government to either roll back the scheme or scrutinise it in cooperation with Opposition parties.
