Mahua responds to PM Modi’s ‘Maa Kali’s blessings are with India’ remark, says ‘didi-o-didi got them the boot’

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra  took a veiled dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his “Goddess Kali is with the country” remark.
After the PM broke his silence on the controversy surrounding the poster of Goddess Kaali and remarks made by the TMC MP, Mahua said she would advise the BJP troll-in-charge for West Bengal to tell his masters to stop commenting on things they have no clue about.
“Didi-o-didi got them the boot. Now Maa O Maa will get them a foot on their chest,” she tweeted.
During West Bengal assembly elections, the PM had addressed Mamata Banerjee by “Didi-o-Didi.”
Responding to this taunt, the TMC had accused the PM of using a mocking tone to address Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and called it insulting to the women of the state.
TMC MP Mahua Moitra, at a conclave, recently said that she had every right as an individual to imagine Goddess Kali as a meat-eating and alcohol-accepting deity, as each person had his or her unique way of offering prayers.
She was responding to a question in connection with the outrage over a film poster, which shows a woman dressed as the deity smoking a cigarette and holding a pride flag.
After FIRs were filed against her for her comments, Mahua said that the BJP should also file affidavits and claim that alcohol and meat are not offered to Goddess Kali during her worship.
She also drew references to three popular temples in India – Maa Tara temple at Tarapith in West Bengal, Shaktipeeth Temple at Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh and Kamkhya Temple in Guwahati.
According to Moitra, in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh and Assam, the Chief Ministers should inform through affidavits that ‘karanbari’ (alcohol) and meat are not offered there for worship.
The saffron party has demanded an unconditional apology from the TMC MP.
