Tamil superstar Chiyaan Vikram’s son Dhruv Vikram has issued a clarification stating that his father did not suffer a heart attack. Slamming false media reports, Dhruv informed that the Ponniyin Selvan: I actor was hospitalised after he felt some discomfort in his chest.
Taking to Instagram stories, Dhruv issued a statement that read, “Dear fans and well-wishers, Appa (father) had mild chest discomfort and is being treated for the same. He DID NOT have a heart attack as reports falsely claim. We are pained to hear rumours to this effect.”
Further, he requested privacy for his family to deal with the difficult time. “That being said, we request you to give our family the privacy we need at this time. Our Chiyaan is fine now. He is likely to be discharged from the hospital in a day. We hope this statement provides clarity and trust that the false rumours will be put to rest,” he added.
Earlier, a bulletin released by Kauvery Hospital, Chennai, where Chiyaan was admitted, also refuted reports of a cardiac arrest. It also said that the 56-year-old actor has been declared ‘clinically stable’ and will be discharged soon.
“Popular Tamil actor Mr. Vikram has been admitted to Kauvery Hospital with complaints of chest discomfort. He was evaluated and treated by a team of specialist doctors. He did not have a cardiac arrest, is currently clinically stable, and will be discharged from the hospital soon,” the bulletin read.
For the unversed, the news of Vikram getting admitted to a hospital broke out hours before the unveiling of Ponniyin Selvan: I teaser, leaving his fans in a state of worry. Soon, reports claimed that he suffered a heart attack.
Meanwhile, in P.S. 1, Chiyaan is sharing screen space with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Jayaram, and Prakash Raj. Directed by Mani Ratnam, the period drama will release on September 30.
