Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan Part 1’s (PS1) much-anticipated teaser has been unveiled by megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Friday (July 8) evening. The first installment is set to release this year on September 30 in five languages – Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
The teaser gives us a glimpse into the Chanakya dynasty – the big kingdom, raging war, fight for the crown and more. The clip also features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini and she will leave you spellbound with her beauty. The 1:20 minutes teaser is aesthetically scores big and will leave the fans excited for the film.
The film is based on the classic Tamil novel, Ponniyin Selvan. Authored by Kalki Krishnamurthy, it recounts the story of Raja Raja Chola. Literally, Ponniyin Selvan means ‘the son of Ronni’.
It is based on the story of Arulmozhivarman, who was later crowned as Raja Raja Chola 1. It chronicles extensive details on many of the real historical figures from the Chola dynasty. Raja Raja Chola is known for building a temple that is world-famous even now, the Brihadeeswarar Temple, well-known as Periya Kovil.
While AR Rahman is scoring the music for the film, the cinematography will be done by Ravi Varman.
On Wednesday (July 6), the makers shared the poster of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan introducing her as Nandini, the queen of Pazhuvoor. Aishwarya captioned the poster, “Vengeance has a beautiful face! Meet Nandini, the Queen of Pazhuvoor! #PS1 releasing in theatres on 30th September in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.”
Produced by Lyca Productions, the first part of historical drama will star Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Aishwarya Lekshmi and others.
