‘Using its members to fan communal violence’: TMC alleges BJP links with Udaipur killer, Kashmir terrorist

The Trinamool Congress  sought a judicial probe into the alleged links of the BJP with the main accused in the Udaipur tailor’s murder case and a terrorist held in Kashmir recently.
The Mamata Banerjee-led party alleged that the BJP was using its “members” to fan communal violence in the country ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
This comes amid media reports which claimed that one of the killers of the Udaipur tailor was a member of the BJP while a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist arrested from Jammu region was IT cell chief of the BJP in Jammu.
Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor in Rajasthan’s Udaipur, was killed on June 28 at his shop by two men – Riaz Attari and Ghouse Mohammad – who posted videos online saying that they were avenging an insult to Islam.
Sharing the photos of BJP leaders with Kanhaiya Lal’s murder accused and the arrested terrorist, the ruling party of West Bengal asked what relations the saffron party has with them.
“Recently, we witnessed how comments made by a BJP leader have led to violence across the country. The BJP leadership had claimed they are fringe elements. But the reality is they are not fringe elements but part of the greater design of the saffron camp to spread communal disharmony. As a result of that, one man was killed in Rajasthan’s Udaipur,” TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said at a press conference.
“Later, it was found that Riaz Attari, the prime accused in killing the Udaipur tailor, was also a BJP member. This only proves how the BJP is using its members to fan communal violence in the country ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls,” Ghosh said, showing photographs of Attari with BJP leaders.
Senior TMC leader and minister Shashi Panja alleged that terrorist Talib Shah, who was arrested in Srinagar, had links with the BJP.
“Photographs of Talib Shah have gone viral. A terrorist is having links with the BJP. This is a serious issue which needs to be probed. There should be a judicial probe into both incidents, and the truth must be unearthed. The BJP is using its members to fuel communal violence in the country,” she said.
The BJP has clarified that it has no links with Udaipur killer Riyaz Attari and also claimed that LeT terrorist Talib Hussain had resigned from the party in May this year, 18 days after joining.
