Farhan Akhtar has become the first Bollywood celebrity to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after he was roped in to play the pivotal role of Waleed in the Disney + Show Ms Marvel. The actor has now said he is glad he got to become a part of the show that marked the debut of a Muslim superhero on the screens.
For the unversed, Episode 4 of the first season of Ms Marvel saw the Red Daggers, led by Waleed (Farhan Akhtar), share with Kamala more knowledge about the Clandestines as beings who originate in a parallel dimension. However, Farhan’s stint in the MCU is short-lived as Waleed sacrifices himself to protect Kamala and her new friends.
In an interaction with India Today, Farhan, however, stated that he prefers to stay mum about whether or not his character is actually dead in the Marvel series. “I am not allowed to answer it!” the actor said adding that the reason of him becoming a part of Ms Marvel was due to the representation of South Asians.
“People have been invested in the show. For us, it is really exciting because it is culturally representing us. It makes it very special. And that was the most exciting part for me being involved with the show,” he said.
Sharing his opinion on the fact that his character is killed off pretty quickly on the show, Farhan said, “People must enjoy the show and they should enjoy Kamala’s journey. I think that’s what’s important.”
Meanwhile, in an exclusive interaction with Times Now Digital, Aramis Knight, who essays the role of Kareem in the show, had opened up on working with Farhank Akhtar in the show. Calling Farhan, “very, very cool”, Aramis had said, “Working with Farhan Akhtar was incredible.” He went on to add, “Such a nice guy, so full of warmth. I was able to get quite a few pieces of advice from him that I will always cherish. And overall it was great.”
