Even though the Money in the Bank 2022 is scheduled to take place next week, the preparations for SummerSlam are also in full flow and WWE has already confirmed that Roman Reigns will be defending his Undisputed Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar in a Last Man Standing Match. John Cena also looks set to be the part of the Biggest Party of the Summer once again.
Another top superstar who will be part of the event is Seth Rollins. The former Universal champion is slated to compete in the Ladder Match at Money in the Bank 2022 and will also be part of SummerSlam later next month. While there is no news regarding his opponent for the Summer event, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio has reported The Visionary might face former United States Champion, Riddle.
“I didn’t think he was going to win, but, I didn’t think that it was going to be, tree slam and then another tree slam, and then Rollins would lay him out and obviously the idea is, with Cody out, that Rollins who is, you know, top heel on the brand, probably is going to be doing a program with Riddle, and there’s nothing wrong with that,” Meltzer said.
Rollins recently faced Riddle in back-to-back matches at live events and lost on both occasions. Their recent matches also hint that they might square off in a one-on-one match at SummerSlam.
On this week’s Raw, Rollins interrupted Riddle during his promo and went on to hit him with a Curb Stomp. Riddle, who is also a former Tag Team Champion, isn’t scheduled to be part of MITB. He lost to Omos in a qualification match on Raw.
Last week, Riddle squared off in probably the biggest match of his career as he unsuccessfully challenged Reigns for his titles in the main event of Smackdown. After the main event, Lesnar made his return to get his title opportunity at SummerSlam.
