Fans search for Rohit Sharma as skipper goes missing from BCCI’s pictures of India’s England-bound Test squad

The Indian cricket team jetted off to the United Kingdom for the postponed 5th Test against England on Wednesday. The likes of Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, etc. could be seen in the pictures shared on social media. But, team captain Rohit Sharma was nowhere to be seen.
Rohit, who was rested from India’s limited-overs series against South Africa, is expected to lead the team in England. He had also posted a video of his fitness sessions a few days ago. However, quite surprisingly, the skipper couldn’t be seen in the pictures shared by BCCI.
In fact, Rohit was also seen playing gully cricket in a video that had surfaced a few days ago. Whether there’s a reason behind him not getting snapped in the pictures shared by the BCCI or just the fact that he wasn’t clicked in the pictures for some reason, is not yet known.
For the unversed, the Indian cricket team presently leads the 5-match Test series against England 2-1. The 5th and final Test of the series had to be suspended to Covid-19 cases in the Indian camp. It was Virat Kohli who was leading the boys on the tour of the UK last time but had stepped down from the role after the South Africa tour.
It would be the first time that Kohli will be working under Rohit Sharma, the Test captain.
The match has been scheduled to take place at Edgbaston, and it’s fair to say that the England team is looking in pretty good form at the moment. The manner in which England, under the coach-captain duo of Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes, have looked like a formidable force.
India would be keen to secure at least a draw from the last match and pocket the series. But, their task isn’t expected to be as easy as it probably was during the first four matches of the series under Joe Root’s captaincy.
The match will begin on July 01, 2022. After the Test, India will also play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is against England.
