Pakistan and West Indies are currently engaged in a three-match ODI series against each other in Multan. The home team won the first two matches played at Multan Cricket Stadium to seal the limited-overs series. After getting the better of Nicholas Pooran & Co. by five wickets in the opening encounter on Wednesday (June 8), Babar Azam’s side registered a thumping win in the second match by 120 runs on Friday (June 10).
After posting a total of 275 runs for the loss of eight wickets, the hosts dismissed the Caribbeans in 32.2 overs for just 155 runs to seal the match and series. For the Men in Green, skipper Babar Azam top-scored with 77 and added 120 runs for the second wicket with opening batter Imam-ul-Haq, who made 72 runs in as many balls.
In the bowling, Mohammad Nawaz led the show and picked up four wickets for just 19 runs in 10 overs and was well supported by Mohammad Wasim Jr (3/34) and Shadab Khan (2/40).
In the aftermath of the win against the two-time former World Cup winners, Pakistani players shared some fun moments with the members of the visiting team, and in one such video uploaded by the Pakistan Cricket Board on their official Instagram account, opening batter Fakhar Zaman is seen teaching West Indies wicket-keeper batter Shai Hope how to play the game of carrom.
PCB shared the video with a caption, “Bonding off the field. Shai Hope is learning carrom from Fakhar Zaman. How would you rate their skills.”
Zaman failed to deliver and only scored 11 and 15 runs in the first two matches of the series. On the other hand, Hope hammered 127 runs in the opening game and, in the process, also became the third fastest batter to reach 4000 runs in ODI matches. But he failed to build on his success in the second game and was sent back to the dugout in the first over itself, for just four runs from six balls.
