The Congress has decided to move its MLAs in Haryana to Chhattisgarh amid apprehensions of cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha polling on June 10.
After the party leadership summoned all the MLAs to New Delhi, they arrived at the residence of MP Deepender Singh Hooda on Thursday.
“No MLA is upset. All MLAs will go there (to Chhattisgarh). I want to tell BJP that it should keep its Haryana MLAs safe,” Hooda told reporters in Delhi.
Haryana is headed for a keen contest with three candidates in the fray for two Rajya Sabha seats and with the entry of independents backed by the party and its allies.
From Hooda’s residence, the MLAs went to Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in New Delhi. “They’ll attend party’s ‘Chintan and Prashikshan Shivir’. As far as Rajya Sabha elections are concerned, numbers will be more than the strength of Congress legislative party,” Hooda said.
The MP further warned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to worry about MLAs supporting it in the upcoming polls.
“BJP should take care of JJP and Independent MLAs that are supporting them,” he added.
” In Haryana, the BJP-JJP govt should be afraid, some of the MLAs supporting them have lost faith in the government. They are trying hard to keep their flock together. We are 100 percent confident,” Hooda added.
Meanwhile, the BJP has appointed union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat as its in-charge of Rajya Sabha polls in Haryana.
Polls will be held for the two RS seats in Haryana on June 10.
