When Esha Deol slapped Amrita Rao in heat of the moment: ‘I was instigated, I have no regrets’

The Hindi film fraternity, especially when we talk about Bollywood, have witnessed many incidents where the co-actors or actors and filmmakers seldom don’t make it to the good books of each other. They might not be very vocal about it now, but there was a time when ugly fights between the actors and directors used to broke on the sets of a film.
One such incident took place in the year 2005 when Esha Deol and Amrita Rao were shooting for their film Pyare Mohan, also starring Vivek Oberoi and Fardeen Khan. The altercation between Esha and Amrita escalated to such a level that the former ended up slapping the latter. Esha, however, feels that Amrita deserved it and has no regret regarding the same.
After the incident, Esha spoke about it to Times of India and shared that she got provoked after Amrita allegedly abused her publically. Esha said, “Amrita abused me in front of the director, Indra Kumar and the cameraman and I thought that was totally out of line.”
“To protect my self-respect and dignity, in the heat of the moment, I slapped her. I have no regrets because she totally deserved it for her behaviour towards me at that point of time. I just stood up for myself and my dignity,” she added.
As we say, all’s well that ends well, the two ladies reconciled later after Amrita realised her fault and apologised to Esha. The Dhoom actress further said, “I forgave her. Now things are fine between us.”
Esha also talked about losing her temper and said that she comes from a “very cultured background” and it is not in her nature to “do something of this proportion unless I am instigated to do so.”
At that time, Esha was basking the success of YRF’s Dhoom and had appeared in films such as Kaal and Dus. On the other hand, Amrita won millions of hearts with her role in the films such as Ishq Vishq, Main Hoon Na, among others.
