‘Will give free Ola electric scooter to customers who…’: CEO Bhavish Aggarwal’s open challenge

Electric two-wheeler maker Ola Electric will give away free scooters to 10 customers who manage to travel 200 kms on a single battery charge. Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal announced the marketing campaign on May 20, saying the company will give an Ola S1 Pro ‘Gerua’ scooter to 10 customers who can manage the travel the said distance on a single charge. He said two customers have already managed to do it.
“Looking at the excitement, we’ll give a free Gerua scooter to 10 more customers who cross 200 km range in a single charge! We have 2 who’ve crossed, one each on MoveOS 2 and 1.0.16. So anyone can achieve! Will host the winners at the Futurefactory in June to take their delivery!” Aggarwal announced earlier.
The free ‘Gerua’ scooters for the winning customers will be delivered at the company’s Futurefactory in Tamil Nadu in June. Ola launched special edition ‘Gerua’ colour edition for S1 Pro variant exclusively for sale on March 17 and March 18 during Holi earlier this year.
India’s biggest two-wheeler EV manufacturer Ola Electric hiked the price of its flagship S1 Pro variant by Rs 10,000—the vehicle will sell for Rs 1,20,149 (ex-showroom Delhi after FAME-II and state subsidies). Ola S1 continues to sell for Rs 85,099. Ola opened the sale window for S1 Pro on May 21. The company sold 12,000 vehicles dislodging Hero Electric in the segment as the top seller.
“Amazed by the number of people attempting and crossing 200kms in single charge!! Almost 100! The Ola S1 easily breaks the official ARAI range too. Ola community has put to rest naysayers! We will give a free Gerua scooter to every verified achiever today” he said again on May 22..
Last month the company recalled 1,441 electric scooters in the wake of several incidents wherein Ola vehicles went up in flames.
“As a pre-emptive measure we will be conducting a detailed diagnostic and health check of the scooters in that specific batch and therefore are issuing a voluntary recall of 1,441 vehicles.” Ola Electric further said,
These scooters will be inspected by our service engineers and will go through a thorough diagnostics across all battery systems, thermal systems as well as the safety systems.”
