Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy attacked the Congress party over the issue of the submerged ancient city Dwarka in Gujarat. Swamy alleged that the Congress had blocked the undersea expedition of Dwarka and that the party believes Ramayana and Mahabharata were only mythological texts and not real.
“Congress govt had blocked the ongoing Dwarka undersea expedition? Because British imperialist claimed Indian Epics Ramayana, Mahabharata as Mythology. They and their Indian tuties don’t want to accept their mistake & accept Mahabharata was real and Lord Rama &Krishna existed,” the BJP leader tweeted this morning.
While the context of Swamy’s latest attack against the Congress on Dwarka is not clear, it may be recalled that about four years ago, in July 2018, the politician had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and had urged him to review the issue of Dwarka.
Swamy had raised the issue of the ancient city of Dwarka in the letter and asked PM Modi to order the institution of a new research team to rebuild Dwarka city based on the ruins that were discovered underwater
Swamy had then said that if Dwarka is excavated and rebuilt, it will establish that India was indeed the oldest civilization.
Swamy had then recalled in the letter that during the term of then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a research team was set up in 2001 and it had discovered an organized rock formation structure with an area of 9 square kilometres. The structure was found around 20 kilometres from the Gujarat coast.
Swamy had then in the letter blamed the then UPA government led by former PM Manmohan Singh of ignoring the discovery. He pointed out that the UPA government had failed to issue Rs 14 crore as demanded by the team to conduct further research on the historical site.
