‘Rome was not built in a day’: Kirti Azad says TMC will be in position to form govt in Goa by next polls

Trinamool Congress’ Goa in-charge Kirti Azad said that the Mamata Banerjee-led party would be in a position to form a government in Goa by the next Assembly Elections, arguing that Rome was not built in a day.
During an interaction with reporters during his visit to Goa, where TMC suffered a humiliating defeat in the 2022 Assembly Elections, Azad said that the West Bengal-based party had fared better than both Congress and BJP’s performance during their early electoral stints in the state.
“I said Rome was not built in a day, but the TMC will form a government in the next five years when the next Assembly Elections come,” said the cricketer-turned-politician.
Kirti Azad was named overseer of the TMC’s affairs in Goa after its workers, including its state president Kiran Kandolkar, left the party
“I wish them all the best for what they have done. At least we know who stands with us. Those who are going to be with us are not opportunists. Everything will be in place,” said the TMC leader.
In response to a question about the TMC’s poor performance in the February 14 elections in Goa, Azad replied: “If you compare it to what the BJP did in the first three elections and the Congress did in the first four elections, you will find that we had done 800 times better than them. They did not even have a one per cent vote, we got 8.7 per cent”.
However, Azad didn’t answer media queries about the TMC contesting the upcoming panchayat elections.
