The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) suspended a youth party leader for issuing a controversial letter that led to the thrashing of a BJP worker in Pune, Maharashtra.
According to reports, a president of NCP’s youth unit in western Maharashtra has been suspended for sending a letter to party workers to hunt down anybody who criticises Sharad Pawar.
After he issued this letter, a group of NCP workers stormed a BJP spokesperson’s office in Pune and thrashed him for posting objectional content against Sharad Pawar on social media.
A non-cognizable offence was registered after BJP leader Vinayak Ambekar told police a group of people from the NCP had entered his office in Pune and slapped him.
A Khada police station official said a non-cognizable case has been taken against four people and further probe was underway. Ambekar had claimed NCP workers had come to his office on Saturday seeking tax consultation and had then hit and abused him.
In a video of the incident that has been doing the rounds, a group of people can be seen surrounding the BJP leader in his office and slapping him.
Meanwhile, Thane Police has arrested Marathi actor Ketaki Chitale after a complaint was filed against her for allegedly sharing a ‘derogatory’ post about the NCP president on social media platforms.
In her post, the Marathi actor used phrases like “hell is waiting” and “you hate Brahmins”, allegedly referring to Pawar whose party shares power in Maharashtra with the Shiv Sena and Congress.
