Taika Waititi calls Thor Love and Thunder a ‘midlife crisis film’, here’s what he has to say about Christian Bale

With Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness already in theatres, Marvel fans are waiting for two onscreen representation of popular heroes in Ms Marvel on Disney Plus Hotstar and the July outing of Thor’s next adventure in Thor: Love and Thunder. Director Taika Waititi, who debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Thor: Ragnarok and is returning with MCU’s Thor: Love and Thunder has now revealed that he knew he had to push the boundaries this time.
In an interaction with Entertainment Weekly, Waititi explained that while Ragnarok was like a ‘party’, Love and Thunder is ‘deeper.’ Waititi revealed, “It’s not a serious film, and it’s not a drama, but we do deal with ideas that I think a lot of humans deal with — universal themes about love and loss and our place in the world. Everyone sort of asks this question in the film: What is your purpose? What is the reason that you’re a hero, and what do you do when you have these powers?” adding that it is a “midlife crisis film”.
Elaborating on the difference between Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder he said that with the second film he felt he has got a little more experience and knew how to shoot it a lot more efficiently.
Speaking about Christian Bale as the Gorr the God Butcher, he let slip that he is “probably one of the best villains that Marvel’s had in their films”.
Thor: Love and Thunder sees Chris Hemsworth return as the God of Thunder. The 29th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe also sees , Natalie Portman as Mighty Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Chris Pratt return as Star Lord. The film releases on July 8.
