‘Damaging the party, won’t accept it’: Rahul Gandhi warns Congress leaders against making internal matters public

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi  warned party leaders against going public about internal matters and said that he will not accept it.
Addressing the Extended Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee Meeting in Hyderabad, the former Congress chief said that if any party leader has a complaint, he or she should discuss it in the internal system.
“If you have a complaint, be open about it in our internal system, but if someone says anything to the media, they will be damaging the party and we will not accept it,” he said.
Congress has been struggling with fresh internal fissures since the recent electoral setback in five states. The party’s dismal performance in the Assembly polls reignited debate over organisational overhaul and a full-time party president.
Following the poll debacle, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi held a series of meeting with rebel leaders of the party and called for unity.
“Unity at all levels of our vast organisation is of paramount importance and speaking for myself, I am determined to do whatever is needed to ensure it. Our revival is not just a matter of importance to us alone…it is, in fact, essential for our democracy itself and indeed for our society as well,” she had said in one of her meetings.
On Friday, Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram said that his party is going through “introspection”, which will throw up “solutions.”
The former finance minister was apparently referring to ongoing bickering within the Congress following the recent electoral defeats. The party could not wrest Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur from the BJP and its tally in politically crucial Uttar Pradesh fell to its lowest. It also lost Punjab to the Aam Aadmi Party.
