BrahMos successfully test-fired from indigenously-built stealth destroyer, will ensure warship’s invincibility

India successfully test-fired BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from Indian Navy’s indigenously-built stealth destroyer INS Chennai.

Hitting a target in the Arabian Sea, the missile successfully engaged it with pinpoint accuracy after performing high-level and extremely complex manoeuvres.

BrahMos as ‘prime strike weapon’ will ensure the warship’s invincibility by engaging naval surface targets at long ranges.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, BrahMos and Indian Navy for thesuccessful launch while Dr G Satheesh Reddy, DRDO Chairman congratulated the scientists and all personnel of DRDO, BrahMos, Indian Navy and industry for the successful feat.

He further said that BrahMos missiles will add to the capabilities of Indian Armed Forces in many ways.

This test comes after another BrahMos missile with an indigenous airframe and booster and a range of 400 km was tested from an integrated test range at Balasore in Odisha on September 30.

This successful test paved way for India to have the next generation of a long-range tactical supersonic cruise missile.

Amid tensions with China, India has deployed a sizeable number of the original BrahMos missiles and other key assets in several strategic locations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh.
